5 ways to know if you’re experiencing workplace burn-out

Have you ever felt like closing your laptop, leaving work behind and just screaming into the void never to return to the office again?


Burn-out is simply feeling overworked and overwhelmed by work. It is usually related to the workplace.

The International Classification of Diseases defines burn-out as, Burn-out is a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.”

If burn-out from the work is not easily detected, it can lead to other mental health issues.

It is normal to feel stressed by work, our bodies produce adrenaline and cortisol but it ought to return to normal.

Imagine your body not returning back to normal for a protracted time. It is quite unhealthy.

1. You cannot concentrate on the tasks in front of you and find it difficult to remember things.

2. Feeling mentally distanced from your job – not enjoying work.

3. Thinking about the work you have to do but procrastinating anyway.

4. Lacking motivation and energy and feeling checked out.

5. Having constant headaches.

If you are feeling like this you might need to take a short break from work and do things that are fun. Close your laptop. Log out of your computer and take a break.
