When your partner disrespects or insults you in private, and in public, it shows they’re taking you for granted and don’t appreciate your efforts.
No one wants to feel like they are being taken for granted in a relationship, or a marriage. There are a lot of ways to avoid being taken for granted in a relationship.
Here are some of the ways below;
1. Don’t bend over backward
If you don’t want to be taken for granted in a relationship, you don’t have to go the extra mile to show your partner that you are awesome to date, or do whatever it takes to please them. When you act in this way, you give your partner the message that they are on a pedestal and it will make them start taking you for granted.
2. Let your partner know about your boundaries
There are certain lines that your partner shouldn’t cross. You should have boundaries and limits. If you don’t have boundaries, they will continue taking you for granted.
3. Speak up and say “No”
This may sound a bit selfish, but it is okay to say “No” to your partner at times. You don’t have to be a “Yes” woman and you do it just to please your man. If you start saying no to their requests, they may rethink their behavior.
4. Make your worth number one
You have to understand that you are a valuable person. Try to take care of yourself, do all the things that bring you happiness, and put yourself first. This will make them know that you can do without them, and it will help them to realize your worth.
5. You have to respect yourself
If you don’t respect yourself, it will be very difficult for other people to respect you. You have to respect yourself, look good, and don’t be rude.
