The J Hotel Shanghai claims to be the highest hotel in the world. Located at the top of the 128-storey Shanghai Tower, China’s tallest tower and the world’s second-tallest tower at 632 metres, the hotel boasts of 165 rooms of which 34 are suites and offers unique views of Shanghai’s new financial district, the Lujiazui area.
Also, there is 24/7 personal butler service, an indoor swimming pool, toiletries by Hermes and Diptyque, magnolia petal-shaped bathtubs, a luxe spa with a focus on Reiki treatments and full Chinese tea sets in every room.
The hotel has four suite types, with the most expensive being the 380 square meter Shanghai Suite. Besides the bedroom, this suite includes a parlor, study, kitchen, physiotherapy area and a room just for getting dressed.
While prices for the Shanghai suite have not yet been revealed, the least expensive room, a Stateroom which is more than 650 square feet and offers 24/7 personal butler service, a daily fruit plate and newspaper and a view of the Huangpu River cost $557 per night. The J Suite, according to CNN costs 67,628 Chinese yuan per night.
The J Hotel which opened on the 12th of June 2021 is owned by Jin Jiang International, one of China’s largest state-owned hotel and tourism companies.
The Gevora Hotel in Dubai still holds the Guinness World record for tallest hotel in the world at 1,169 feet and the J Hotel is unlikely to take the title because it only occupies high floors at the Shanghai Tower.
