Miss South Africa, Lalela Mswane’s Miss Universe journey ended at the top 3 on Sunday night, 12th of December, 2021.
The 24-year-old gracefully represented her country, amidst controversy.
The top three were Miss SA, Miss Paraguay and Miss India.
However, Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, who represented India got crowned Miss Universe 2021, with Miss Paraguay as the 1st runner-up.
Mswane, who comes from KwaSokhulu in Richards Bay, represented South Africa against contestants from 80 other countries in the competition, which was hosted by comedian Steve Harvey.
“I would like young women to know that since the beginning of time they have had everything within them to achieve anything they wanted, it is the world that convinced that we do not,” Miss SA said in her final speech.
The beauty pageant show was screened live in South Africa on 1Magic (DStv channel 103).
