Zoleka Mandela recently took to her social media to reflect on how she beat cancer twice.

The star shared a lengthy message as she looked back on the day with gratitude, happy to be alive and preparing to give birth to her sixth child.

Zoleka, who is a two-time breast cancer survivor, received a reminder from Facebook about how she shared the devastating diagnosis of her cancer 10 years ago.

She said she was diagnosed of cancer for the first time in March 2012 at the age of 32 and had both her breast surgically removed.

“I had a Bilateral Mastectomy (removal of both my breasts and breast tissue with immediate reconstruction, performed by Dr. Slabbert – tissue expanders were then inserted and replaced with breast implants soon after.”

“I had refused treatment for the Cancer for 3 months – I had given up, lost faith and wanted to die. I was lucky, privileged and remain blessed to this day, I have my son, Zwelami to thank for saving my life.”

In the post she shared, she took a screenshot and shared it once more, grateful she’s lived to tell the tale.

“Today marks exactly 10 years since my first breast cancer diagnosis. Thanking Facebook for the reminder.”
