Fans, friends and colleagues are remembering the late gospel musician, Deborah Fraser, at a memorial service in Johannesburg on Thursday.
The multi-award-winning gospel star died at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital on Sunday after a short illness; she was 56.
The family of the gospel star confirmed her death in a Facebook statement.
Deborah Fraser will be laid to rest in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday 21 May.
The KwaZulu-Natal-born singer kicked off her music career as a backup singer for the likes of Rebecca Malope, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Hugh Masekela and Jonas Gwangwa.
Fraser rose to fame following the release of her debut gospel album, Abanya Bayombona in 2008. She made history in 2008, as the first recipient of the Best Female Gospel Artist award at the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards.
