Lawrence Maleka has officially returned as #SAMA28 host.

The news was made known by The South African Music Awards (SAMA) stating the River actor will work alongside Nandi Madida.

Maleka is well known for his impeccable hosting skills and he has hosted numerous awards ceremonies and shows, hence it is no doubt that he will leave viewers glued to their small screens.

The much-anticipated awards will be held in Sun City on 28 August 2022 and broadcast live on SABC1.

Lawrence may have gained prominence for his role as Zolani on soapie The River, but it is his stellar hosting skills that have gained him reverence.

He has previously hosted Big Brother Africa and #SAMA27 with Bontle Modiselle Moloi in 2021.

In a press release, Maleka said he is privileged to host the awards again “I am again honored to have received the call to host the country’s most prestigious awards show. I am excited about the caliber of artists that will be celebrated across 30 categories, the phenomenal performers that will ignite the stage, and the magic Nandi Madida and I will create on stage. It’s going to be a memorable iteration of the South African Music Awards.”

RiSA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi said: “Lawrence Maleka is a natural fit for the SAMAs. He brings the type of energy, professionalism, and personality that resonates well with audiences. As a previous host, we know what he is capable of, and we are all looking forward to seeing him and Nandi Madida make #SAMA28 magic. We also encourage the public to get their tickets via www.tickets.co.za at R395 for gallery seats, R795 for VIP seats and R495 for VIP After-Party tickets.”
