South African musician, Makwa kicked against artist signing to major record labels.
In a series of tweets shared, the Hip Hop producer who has his record label revealed the disadvantages of signing with major labels.
“Don’t sign a recording contract, especially with a major label, trust me you’ll regret signing with them. Rather stay indi until things come together. Lastly, if a label offers to buy you something big like a car or a house, decline that offer and take the cash instead,” he wrote.
Makwa says his experiences have taught him enough lessons.
Selling beats in SA is a Joke. Most of the time artists don’t like to pay, some artists are full of games. Only 0.001% is serious about this music thing https://t.co/d5ZNaeSHsF

“Even Major Labels can’t afford to pay for beats, I’m saying this because I know. If you want to make music full time never quit your initial hustle for music,” he added.
Once they sign you, you don’t have a say in anything even your music or how you want to make your music. https://t.co/Vpz9XgLKBZ
