Actress Sophie Ndaba loses her R2.2 million house

Sophie Ndaba loses her house in Johannesburg after failing to settle a loan payment of R2.2 million with Mercantile Bank.


The actress reportedly bought the posh house for over R2.2 million in October 2021, with the loan she acquired.

Unfortunately, the Johannesburg High court granted judgment against her after she failed to pay the bank over R1-million shortfall from the proceeds of the sale of her home.

“Having heard counsel and having considered the papers filed in the matter, the following order is made against the first and second respondents, jointly and severally, the one paying the other to be absolved,” Judge Senyatsi read

“Payment in the amount of R1 089 588.08 [one million and eighty-nine thousand and five hundred and fifty-eight rands and eight cents] … Payment in the amount of R69 012.43 (sixty-nine thousand and twelve rand and forty-three cents].”

Mercantile Bank’s request to sell the house in other to recoup its fund was granted.

Sunday World reports that other assets of the actress might get sold by the bank.

“Wherefore the plaintiff prays for judgment as follows: as against the first and second defendants, jointly and severally, the one paying the other to be absolved; payment of the sum of R2 254 545.85 at the rate 10.5% per annum calculated daily and compounded monthly in arrears from 1 January 2019 to date of payment, both date inclusive.

“Declaring that the immovable property registered in the first defendant’s name held by it under the titled deed … which correlated to … Featherbrook Estate, Krugersdorp, be declared specially and immediately executable.”
