AKA expresses excitement at the restoration of Hip Hop.
Over the past years, there’s been a debate over the survival of the genre due to the emergence of Amapiano which took over the wave and is currently the hottest sound in South Africa.
During the alleged dead phase of rap music, some rappers switched to yano and did well, while a few like Priddy Ugly, K.O, A-Reece, Emtee and other remained constant with the drop of rap songs.
The Amapiano producer, Mr JazziQ once slammed the rumors about hip hop; he said the genre isn’t dead but the artists are to be faulted.
Within the past few months, AKA’s Lemonade (Lemons) and K.O’s Sete has been topping music charts; the diss game between Big Zulu and other rappers also spiced the hip hop genre.
With all of these and more, Supa Mega confidently said the genre is back to live.
“Lol … SA HIP HOP is in fashion again,” he tweeted.
What do you think of AKA’s statement?
Yeah cassper brought it back!!!!!

Why would you say that it’s not hip hop? cause neegas are clearly rapping on an afro-beat/piano instrumental there. If you’re saying it’s not hip hop because of that then Hit Em Up, Juicy, Big Poppa etc. isn’t hip hop as well since they were jumping on soul and funk beats 🤷♂️
