For those who prefer the flavour of meat despite the fact that vegetarian fare is already fairly delightful, there are many vegetarian recipes that taste remarkably similar to meat-based dishes.

Tofu and soy are vegetarian ingredients with flavours that are most similar to those of meat.

If you’re a newly converted vegetarian looking for meaty flavours in your vegetarian food, these recipes can help.

Here are three healthy and nutritious vegetarian substitutes that you must try:

1. Tofu Curry

Ingredients:-

1 large tofu – washed and cubed

1 large onion – chopped into thick pieces

2 large tomatoes – chopped into thick pieces

1/2 inch fresh ginger

3 garlic cloves

½ cup water

4 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp cumin powder

½ tsp garam masala powder

1 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp salt (As per your taste)

How To Make:-

1. Make a paste of onion, tomato, garlic, and ginger. Saute and cook the paste. Add the required spices. Add the tofu and water.

2. Heat four tbsp olive oil in a large pan.

3. Add the tomato-onion paste and fry till pink in colour (takes a minute on medium heat).

4. Reduce heat to low, add all “powdered spices” and sauté evenly to mix everything.

5. Let this saute on low flame for two minutes or till the onions become light brown.

6. Add water and cook for two more minutes on low flame.

7. Add chopped tofu to the curry and sauté everything very lightly.

8. Let this cook on medium heat for two to three minutes.

9. After three minutes, the curry would be bubbling and ready.

Turn off the heat and transfer the Indian tofu Curry to a serving bowl.

Sprinkle sliced cilantro on top and serve hot.

2. Paneer Roll

Ingredients:-

1/2 tsp red chilli powder

1/4 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 cup paneer (chopped in small cubes)

Sunflower oil

1/4 tsp curry powder

1/2 tsp garam masala

Coriander leaves

1 tsp pureed garlic

1/2 finely chopped carrot

1 small chopped capsicum

1/2 chopped cucumber

1 chopped onion

1 finely chopped green chilli

1 small chopped tomato

Salt as per taste

How To Make:-

1. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame to prepare the paneer rolls. Saunf and cumin seeds should be fried for 30 seconds. Add the green peppers and onions.

2. After a further minute, add the carrots and capsicums. Cook for a further minute after adding the tomatoes. Salt, curry powder, and red chilli powder are then added. Good stirring

3. Include the cucumber, paneer, and garam masala powder. On a low to medium temperature, cook for one or two minutes. After adding coriander leaves, lower the flame.

4. Next, reheat chapatis on a tawa over a medium flame (or tortillas).

5. Fill each chapati with some of the paneer-vegetable mixtures before tightly rolling it.

6. Serve with the green chutne.

3. Soya Chaap Curry

Ingredients:-

2 tbsp oil

4 soya chaap sticks

1 bay leaf

1 tsp cumin Seeds

2 tbsp onion paste

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp red chilli powder

1 cup water

1 cup tomato pulp

2 tbsp coriander leaves

1 tsp kasuri methi

1/2 tsp garam masala

1/2 cup cream

How to Make:-

1. Place soy sticks in a pan with oil.

2. When the sticks are golden brown, roast them.

3. Add the bay leaf, cumin seeds, and onion paste to the pan and roast them while keeping the roasted soy sticks separate.

4. Lightly roast them and season them with salt and turmeric.

5. After thoroughly combining them, add the ginger-garlic paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, and red chilli powder.

6. Add water to the mixture as you blend the components. Mix it up completely.

7. To make the gravy, add the tomato pulp now. It should be simmered.

8. Combine garam masala with coriander leaves and a dash of kasuri methi.

9. Mix them well and add cream. Stir the cream thoroughly.

10. Now add roasted soya chaap sticks to the curry and bring to a simmer.

11. Serve hot with the garnishing of cream.
