Friends and family have gathered at M1 Studio at the SABC’s head office in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, to celebrate the life of broadcaster Pearl Shongwe.
The star died on November 8 and it left a deep hole in the hearts of so many.
Her family issued a brief statement confirming her death and asked for privacy to process their loss.
“It is with great sadness that the Shongwe family announces the untimely passing of our beloved daughter Ntombifuthi Pearl Shongwe. She passed away in her sleep.”
Pearl was a news reader and presenter on popular radio and television shows The Touchdown on Metro FM and SABC1’s youth programme Daily Thetha at the time of her death.
She began her career in 2010 when she worked for youth radio station YFM as an entertainment reporter alongside youth pioneer and DJ Mo Flava for more than two years.
However, her funeral will be held in Diepkloof, Soweto, on Saturday.
