Cassper Nyovest has decided to show his soft side as he breaks down during DJ Sumbody’s memorial service.

Friends, family, and colleagues of late amapiano pioneer gathered at a memorial service to pay tribute to him this morning.

It was stated that Sumbody was murdered in the early hours of Sunday 20 November in Woodmead, while he was traveling to a gig.

His death brought sadness to so many people most especially Cassper who couldn’t hold back his tears as he paid tribute to him.

Cassper recalled the first time he met DJ Sumbody “Me and DJ Sumbody met a long time ago. I don’t know who he took my number from. However, when he was on the radio he would call me every week to give me an interview without telling me anything before. I would answer thinking it was just a call, and he would be like “you are live on air, you see we are supporting you” and that is how our relationship started. How we became close friends with him is a funny story,” he said.

He continued “One day he pulled me at a party where they had booked me at Ayepyep and said you are my boy and I understand you. I want to tell you something, they are jealous of you.”

Cassper also touched on how DJ Sumbody changed his life after releasing the smash hit Monate mpolaye featuring him.

“He was not scared to tell what everyone was scared to say and from there we became very close mutual friends. We went on to release the song Monate Mpolaya and I didn’t like it but he would take no for an answer and when the song was released it changed everyone’s career not only theirs but even mine. It became one of my biggest songs to perform on stage and when I performed it at Global Citizen and everyone loved it he said there was not only hying that was missing. I am grateful to have had a friend like this. It is such a difficult time for all of us because he was a person who would always make plans whether it was business or personal,” said Cassper as he fought back his tears.

Cassper you could say something bad to the DJ, but he would never take offense. “You could be brutally honest with him and he would not take offense. No matter how much youf**k with him he would love you. I am going to miss you and I love you,” he said.
