Cyril Ramaphosa to resign as the President of South Africa

Cyril Ramaphosa is likely to announce his resignation as the President of South Africa in the next few hours after losing the political support of the ANC.

According to News 24, he will also resign as the leader of the ANC political party and will withdraw from contesting the elective conference at Nasrec.

The former premier of Mpumalanga will step in as acting president until Parliament votes for a new president.

An election for a new president is said to hold early next year.

A source close to the president revealed that Cyril is willing to quit for the best interest of the country.

“The primary concern in the president’s mind is the stability of the government and the country,” Vincent Magwenya, Ramaphosa’s spokesperson said.

According to the publication, “Ramaphosa has run out of options after a Section 89 panel, headed by former chief justice Sandile Ngcobo, found that he may have violated the Constitution and anti-corruption laws in his Phala Phala game farm dealings.”

Meanwhile, the President will be addressing the nation soon.
