Crying is a natural human response to a variety of emotions such as sadness, grief, excitement, and frustration.


However, contrary to some beliefs that crying is bad, it might be beneficial.

Dr Sabrina Jackson, the people expert, told Fox 2 that there are many benefits to having a good cry. “Well, it really helps you took purge, it helps you get things out of you.

There are really three reasons why we cry; we cry to cleanse the eye, we cry because there may be an injury or an infection in the eye or allergies with the eyes, but the third is emotions,” she says.

Here are the benefits of crying, according to Dr Sabrina:

1. Sleep is enhanced

Our sleep is enhanced; we sleep better when we get a good cry out and purge that cry out.

2. Pain is relieved

It helps relieve your pain when you cry, and It also helps in self-soothing and reducing the degree of discomfort.

3. Releases toxins

It releases toxins. Toxins in the body can flow through the tears.

4. Improves mood

It improves your mood. After a good cry, you should feel better because these hormones will leave your body, leaving you feeling better than before.

5. Neutralises stress

It helps to neutralise your stress and keeps your body under control.

6. Gets support from others

Crying can alert others close to you that you require assistance. It gets you support from others because there’s something about the human; when we see other humans cry, we want to help them. So it allows people to come to our assistance and our aid.
