Thuli Phongolo opens case of Gender Based Violence against her lover, DJ Maphorisa
DJ Maphorisa got arrested for slapping his girlfriend, Thulisile Phongolo.
The DJ whose real name is Sonnyboy Sekowe spent the night at the Sandton police station and will appear at the Randburg magistrate’s court on Monday, over a case of Gender Based Violence (GBV).
It was reported that Phori assaulted his partner after she confronted him about an argument that happened between them at a gig over the past weekend.
“He held me, took me to the balcony, and grabbed me aggressively by my neck,” the former Generations: The Legacy’s actress revealed.
Thuli’s manager says to Sunday World, “We are still trying to gather how she is doing. I am seeing her in the next hour … We just need to actually figure out what is happening … She was with her road manager.”
A source close to the case revealed that the Amapiano star tried getting bail but was refused.
“He is facing a serious charge of assault GBV and he can only get bail in court for that, so he has to stay behind bars overnight before he can get bail,” said the source.
The two have been reportedly dating for almost two years.
