Thembinikosi Lorch found guilty of assaulting Fundiswa Nokuphiwa Mathithiba
Orlando Pirates forward midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch has been found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Fundiswa Nokuphiwa Mathithiba.
Three years after the hideous incident, Natahsa Thahane’s baby daddy is confirmed by the NPA to be guilty of assault.
Nokuphiwa was allegedly admitted to the hospital due to trauma, anxiety, and depression suffered from the incident.
She opened a case against him on the 6th of September 2020 and he was granted R2000 bail the following day.
“Fundiswa Nokuphiwa Mathithibala said she was visiting Lorch when he left her at his home to go out with his friend. Mathithibala saw that it was getting late and messaged him to return her car keys. On arrival, an argument ensued and Lorch became violent towards her and started to strangle her, beat her whilst pulling her up and down. She called for help and his friend came to her rescue,” NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said.
“The accused did not have any injuries which meant that he was the aggressor. The accused and his witness did not create a good impression in court and appeared to be not credible witnesses.”
Lorch will know his fate in July as the case was postponed for sentencing.
