“I met my hero,” Stogie T pays tribute to Teboho Mahlatsi

Tumi Molekane famously known as Stogie T pays tribute to the late Yizo Yizo creator, Teboho Mahlatsi.

The producer was announced dead on Monday after battling cancer.

Taking to social media, Stogie reminisced on how he was good to him years back.

The rapper appreciated him and called Teboho his hero.

“13 or so years ago I wrote to a Kanye beat after being provoked by some troubling news involving abuse and kids. Long and very important story short, Tebogo Mahlatsi heard the song and between him @tha_filmaka and many others I have now forgotten but am not less appreciative of, they decided to make a video for it. I remember that day feeling so blessed that there were people out there like Tebogo. We worked all day, laughed dude even taught me don’t ever shoot a picture with the subject directly light facing, he was super stylish,” he wrote.

“Oh damn I just realized he introduced me to The sartorialist blog all them years back. It was like a dream. Years before that I went to a workshop at the Windybrow theatre. He was speaking about Yizo Yizo and his Cowboy short, all I remember about that is he used to buy dvds from Amazon (that sounds like nothing now but that was revolutionary to a hip hop head with access issues.) I have met so many of the people you put on and inspired good sir. I hope to make half the positive impact you made with your time here. I MET MY HERO.”
