DJ Sbu slams Mofaya ownership controversy

DJ Sbu reacts to the controversy built around the ownership of Mofaya brand after Miss SA announced it as her official sponsor.

The businessman was excited about the deal; he said: “Ignite your mind with complex possibilities, an iconic institution like Miss South Africa. Miss South Africa 2023 has officially partnered with Mofaya. I am very humbled and I hope you guys are inspired with our journey and we’re looking forward to seeing our young girls go for their dreams. We’ll like to thank Mofaya.”

However, some social media users claim he doesn’t own the brand.

Responding to the claims, Sbu said: “I’d like to confirm and say you are correct. It definitely isn’t mine because Mofaya is yours. I’m OK and you can just call me a brand ambassador, you can call me a hustler, you can call me an entrepreneur. Ultimately, language is man-made. I’m just proud of the team at Mofaya.”

“All the co-founders, those who are still part of it, those who are not anymore. The team working on the ground, the people selling it every day, the people that buy it. It’s been a form of inspiration to the entrepreneurship culture in South Africa for people to pursue, for people to believe in their dreams and pursue their dreams relentlessly. I’m proud to have been part of this journey, of seeing that tide turn slowly.”
