With no knowledge of what lies ahead, we have learned to engage in many DIY activities that not only bring out the creative side of us but also make us more efficient and effective.

Long hair is a big no-no, especially for men, who like to keep it short and simple.

While cutting one’s hair is not everybody’s cup of tea, following proper steps can make you master it successfully.

So, for men, here’s an easy guide to cut your hair at home and make it count.

1. Wet your hair first

For an efficient haircut, you must wet your hair before anything else. You can wash it with either a shampoo or a conditioner or you can simply sprinkle some water on your hair using a spray bottle. Wet hair eases the hair-cutting process and helps you handle it with more precision.

2. Detangle your hair

After your hair is wet, there can be some tangles. Use a comb to detangle all the knots and bring all the hair strands to the same level. This will make sure that your hair strands are evenly cut and in sync with one another.

3. Find a comfortable space

If it’s your first time, make sure that you choose a calm and peaceful space at your home to cut your hair. While it is very easy, it can also be very nerve-wracking. So it is crucial you have the right atmosphere for it.

4. Section your hair with a comb

Cut is the sectioning of the hair according to the style you want. What you need to do is, run the comb back through your hair right about where your head curves, then comb the hair between the part and the ear down. Repeat this method on both sides of the head. In case you have long hair, you can use a clip to separate your top section with the sides.

5. Use clippers to cut the back and the sides of the hair

When it comes to cutting the back and the sides of your hair, clippers are always better than scissors. It is crucial that you set your clippers’ guard to 1 or 2 to control the amount of hair you cut.

6. Use scissors to cut the top

Instead of using clippers, you must use scissors to cut the top section of the hair. This will not only add texture to your hair but will also style it with more precision and sophistication. Please note that you use a styling scissor instead of a household scissor, as it may not be sharp enough to cut your hair with ease.

7. Take care of all the strays with the trimmer

After you’re done cutting your hair, you can use a trimmer to get rid of all the strays. You can also use a scissor to chop off all the uneven hair strands, but make sure you don’t do it with haste. The worst disasters only happen in the end when you think you’re done.

8. Take a shower

The final step of the process is to either brush yourself off of those hair residues or take a shower. This will not only clear all the lingering leftovers on your hair and give you a better feel and experience.
