Cici fights to leave Ambitiouz Entertainment

Cici, real name Busisiwe Thwala sends lawyers to Ambitiouz Entertainment in a bid to leave the record label.

According to Sunday World, the singer and the label’s boss, Kgosi Mahumapelo are in a feud that started with the hit song Thula, featuring DJ Zinhle.

The song was removed from some major streaming platforms by the label till it got credited as the official record label.

Mahumapelo said he is the one who claimed copyright on the song because Cici is still contracted to his record label.

“The artist [Cici] is still signed to Ambitiouz Entertainment. Yes we did lodge claims,” Mahumapelo said despite Thwala’s desire to leave the company.

According to Sunday World, Cici and the label had a verbal agreement in January for her to be released and get signed to her sister’s agency The House of Thom.

However, Sannah who is the singer’s sister and new manager revealed that the matter is out of hands.

“The matter is being dealt with by her legal team for advice therein and upon her instruction,” Sannah said.

As regards the agreement, a source said, “They only had a verbal agreement with Kgosi [Mahumapelo] before she left in January … Now she is doing so well with all these songs and obviously he wants his share of the money.”

“That is why he is holding her on ransom and keeps removing her songs and asking for song credits.”
