Blaq Diamond wins another court case against their former record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment.
Taking to social media, the duo’s lawyer, Jade Louella announced the legal victory.
“Congratulations to my Client AGAIN! Blaq Diamond for winning against Ambitiouz Entertainment for the third time! Ambitiouz leave to appeal is dismissed with costs! Round 3 in the bag,” she tweeted.
“I have so much respect for Blaq Diamond because these matters may seem like an easy win or lose, but a lot of work, strategy and resources are going into this litigation, and they continue to set precedent for other artists and give us jurisprudence in the entertainment industry,” she added.
The duo asked the Joburg High Court to stop their former record label and management, Ambitiouz Entertainment, from removing their music digital streaming platforms.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Blaq Diamond’s Ndumiso Mdletshe said, “The court has spoken, we are happy, we are celebrating. In the same breath, we want to reiterate that we are not fighting with anyone, we are not bitter, and there are no misunderstandings. All we want is fairness. Other than that, we have no comment.”
However, Ambitiouz Entertainment CEO Kgosi Mahumapelo water’s down the duo’s victory.
“I do not regard that as a win because the court confirmed what we also wanted, that we can take down the music they made when they were under Ambitiuoz Entertainment. This means the music they made while they were under our management belongs to Ambitiouz Entertainment, and they have no right to it whatsoever. Indirectly, the court confirmed this.”
