New Year’s Eve is nearing and with every passing minute, the excitement is building up.
There can be a lot of pressure and hype around what to do on New Year’s Eve.
Everyone wants to have a memorable night. What to wear, where to go and who all to party  with is what everybody is thinking of right now.
There is nothing wrong in doing it, but at the same time ensure that you be safe.

Whether celebrating at a house party with friends and family, or out at an event, taking a few precautions will ensure that everyone gets to and from their destinations safely.

Here are some safety tips for New Year’s eve celebrations.
1. Transport
– If you plan to drive on New Year’s Eve, don’t drink.
– If you have a friend who does not drink, ask them to be the designated driver.
– If you are driving; be alert behind the wheel, be aware of your surroundings.
– Use seatbelts and prepare an emergency safety kit for your vehicle.
– Take public transportation if possible.
2. Communication
It’s been said that the best-laid plans often go awry. No matter how many of the above tips you follow, your night can always take an unexpected turn. All of these problems can be easily fixed by staying in constant contact with your friends or family. Someone with you should be aware of where you are at all times. New Year’s Eve is not the night to ignore your phone messages and calls, nor is it the night to rely on the kindness of strangers.

3, Events

– When attending these events, beware of your surroundings at all times. This is extremely important since you may be around tonnes of people you don’t know in a place you’ve probably never been. Never go to these places by yourself.
– At public events, make sure you have a communication device such as cell phone or laptop just in case anything negative occurs. Be prepared.
– Be mindful of your surroundings and how others are acting, and give a wide berth to those who seem out of control.
– If someone appears intoxicated, keep them from driving and call them a cab to ensure they get home safely, and don’t let them leave with someone they do not know.
4. Hosting a party
– Plan ahead by naming a ‘designated driver.’ Make this your responsibility as the host.
– Contact a local cab company to provide rides for your guests.
– Serve non-alcoholic beverages as an option to your guests.
– Stop serving alcohol to your guests several hours before the party ends.
– Provide your guests with a place to stay overnight in your home. If you are going to engage in fireworks, leave it to the professional
5. Friends
Your friends can be more than just your party buddies – they’re also your back up. If it looks like one of your friends is getting worked up, help them out by steering them away from the situation and trying to calm them down. Instead of driving home late after a party, stay back at the nearest friend’s or relative’s place.
