Master KG bagged one of the most streamed songs in South Africa this year, but was snubbed by Phala Phala FM on its Top 20 songs list.
Lots of emotions were triggered due to the snub, and the radio station has been questioned.
KG’s hit song, Keneilwe was subbbed by the aforementioned radio station and a few of the producer’s friends have voiced out on his behalf.
“What happened is just pure nonsense, the whole radio station just sidelined Master KG,” Mpho Mashabela, chairperson of Limpopo Artists Movement tells Sunday World.
“Phala Phala FM is not taking us forward but backwards. We as the Limpopo Artists Movement are really disappointed.”
The song was released shortly before the festive season and it’s garnered millions of views and streams.
They [Phala Phala FM] should have supported the legendary Dan Tshanda, said Mashabela.
“Some artists entered the Top 20 with more [than] three songs but they chose to take one song from Master KG. We are just going to boycott their Song of the Year [competition].”
