Thabo Mbeki is alive and well
Former South African president Thabo Mbeki was rumored to have passed away at the start of the new year; the false rumor was perceived to be true as his Wikipedia profile was updated.
Thabo Mbeki’s Foundation released a statement on Wednesday to falsify the rumor.
“We urge the public to rely on official channels for accurate information about President Mbeki’s well-being and activities.”
The former President of South Africa was born on 18 June 1942, in Mbewuleni, eSigangeni, South Africa, where he grew into politics.
He served as the President of South Africa from 1999 to 2008 after succeeding the first Black South African president Nelson Mandela.
