Mother’s Day is finally upon us, and we’re beginning to witness how some of Mzansi’s celebs shower their mothers with love.
Taking to social media, Jo-Ann Strauss pens down a sweet note to her mom.
“As we head into Mother’s Day celebrations, I want to take this moment to honour my mother, our mother. My brother and I grew up under the wings of this wonder woman. A true fighter in every sense. A maverick. A maven. A moedertjie vol moed. She grew up in Ravensmead – ‘n laaitie van die lane,” the former Miss SA rep wrote.
“She married my dad as a young 21 year old – perhaps because my excitement to join the world soon after them meeting, rushed the greatest love story into existence. Either way, she became a mother soon after and raised us with such grace, love and happiness. Heinrich and I always said we grew up with the greatest privilege and that’s the unconditional love of two beautiful humans who love each other so much, despite the obstacles bestowed.”
Jo Ann talked about the tragedies experienced in the family, and how it affected them.
“Yes, there have been tragedies. My mom’s dementia for the past 9 years and my brother’s passing have brought us to our knees. But while on our knees, we pray for strength and give thanks for all our blessings. One of our greatest gifts being of course to call her our mom. Elizabeth Ingrid (Liz) Strauss (neé Solomons). Ek is baie lief vir jou, my moedertjie,” she added.
