IEC reacts to vote rigging allegations

IEC apologises to the public due to a technical error that sparked vote-rigging allegations.

The Independent Electoral Commission results dashboard crashed this morning just after 7 am and it left many worried.

“We apologise for the issue with our public facing dashboard system and are working on restoring service. The results system is still operational and local offices continue to capture results,” the statement read.

Despite the address, people were not impressed, and many expressed concern on various platforms.

Electoral Manager Mawethu Mosery said, “Any worry about vote changing must not exist. Our CEO announced yesterday that all the counting has been finalised and the results are with our offices around the country. The issue now is to verify the votes and load them through so that they can appear on the dashboard. There is absolutely no need to panic. Our technicians are working tirelessly to have it back online.”
