Tyla is better than Elaine: Social media users debate over the SA singers

Tyla and Elaine are being compared by social media users after the BET Awards 2024 that took place on Sunday night at Los Angeles. Elaine has been trolled and mocked several times on social media since the massive feats achieved by the Water hitmaker. Tyla bagged two awards at the BET Awards, and it sparked a controversial comment from a X user. "Pretty privilege allowed Tyla to unlock doors Elaine couldn’t," reads the tweet.

Pretty privilege allowed Tyla to unlock doors Elaine couldn’t. https://t.co/Tfe5lQL8cJ

People reacted to the tweet with a majority explaining why the Grammy Award-winning singer is better. "Elaine made music that every other American singer could make. There was zero uniqueness on her approach to the states. Tyla on the other hand knew her being South African would set her apart from the rest you can see even with her PR teams work etc. she cracked the code," a tweep wrote.

You not thinking Elaine is pretty is rooted in YOUR colourism btw. https://t.co/YFRxUg5TLr

Just hope Elaine is surrounded by people who will continue to remind her of who she is. She’ll be back
