Makhadzi spills the beans about her financial struggle in a recent interview with Mac G and Sol Phenduka.
The South African star flew to Los Angeles for the BET Awards where she won the Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act award.
However, she said all the money spent on the flight was borrowed as she had no money.
Makhadzi revealed these personal details while praying during the interview.
The Ma Gear hitmaker appreciated God for the win as it would have been futile if she flew for 24 hours to lose at the award.
After her prayer, Mac G probed her about loaning money, and she explained that she had to borrow as she is battling with tax debt.
Months ago, Makhadzi made headlines for owning R2.7 million in tax.
The singer said every money she’s been making has been for settling the debt, hence she can’t afford flying herself out of the country.
Limpopo-born singer Makhadzi revealed she borrowed money to attend the 19th annual BET Hip-Hop Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, where she won the Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act award.
