Penuel Mlotshwa, a well-known podcast presenter, has sparked a controversy with his recent statement on love and marriage.
The outspoken podcaster said people must not get married for love but for something bigger than love.
He said love is an emotion, and emotions can change; he believes you should get married out of responsibilities to yourself and another person.
“Getting married for love is one of the dumbest things you can ever do,” he said.
Penuel further talked about compatibility and how it helps in a relationship.
However, social media users were not pleased with his initial claim; while others supported him, some challenged his opinions.
A X user wrote, “He should have rephrased it a bit, and maybe said, you shouldn’t marry ONLY for love Otherwise love is the most essential thing in any relationship. You’ll hate your life if you marry someone you don’t love. So he didn’t cook anything.”
“I got married out of responsibilities as you say. i’d probably stil be married if my partner had showed a little more love and care. so i highly disagree,” another wrote.
