Somizi questions the energy directed at Miss SA finalist Chidinma

Somizi reacts to the Miss SA finalist Chidinma saga

Somizi Mhlongo weighs in on the ongoing issue with Miss South African 2024.

The organisation has been called out several times over the past few months to date for endorsing Chidinma Adetshina whose father is a Nigerian.

The media personality addresses the issue by comparing Chidinma’s case with that of Natasha Mazzone – a member of the SA parliament born in South Africa.

Natasha’s parents are from England and Italy; she’s been recognised by the Italian government, yet she’s a successful South African politician.

Som captioned the social media post with, “Besides the one being black and the other being white. What’s the difference between their stories and why is the energy different? Just a simple question.”

Here are some of the responses in the comment:

“Miss SA is about representation. Representation of heritage, culture, traditions. Miss SA can be seen as a national symbol . Her heritage n culture doesn’t not assimilate with ours even though she is born here.”

“Not that I have a problem with her but when I checked her profile she had other 2flags and not the SA one ,and also just asking for a friend ,when she wins will she go to Nigeria to celebrate?when Zozo won she went to EC when shudu won she went to Limpopo so Lona uzoyaphi? I don’t have a father don’t come for me I’m just asking ?”
