It’s been an eventful month for South Africans, and curiosity has been awakened once again as Africa – Sign the Petition trends on social media.
Some concerned citizens have taken to Twitter to ask why the petition is trending, as there are no specific reasons as to why it is on the trend list.
It is believed by some tweeps that the petition is to evict South Africa from Africa, while others believe that the petition is for other countries.
“What is Africa – Sign the Petition for? Are we being evicted from Africa? Haibo guys is the continent trying to gang up against us? Or are we evicting Nigeria because then I’d understand,” a Twitter user wrote.
Africa – Sign the Petition oh plz show me where to sign? Because I’m so ready for other African countries to block us out then it will be easy for the rest of them leave the xenophobic South Africa peacefully ✌️🇿🇦

“Africa – Sign the Petition”
Is that some sort of campaign to get South Africa boycotted by the rest of Africa? 🤔
Because if so, I fully support it! 💯 Please boycott us 🙏🏾🥹

The petition appears to be launched by a few Twitter users who demand speedy public access to the national register of sexual offenders in South Africa.
However, other tweeps who want their post to trend have settled to using “Africa – Sign the Petition”.
