Elsa Majimbo condemns black tax

Kenyan comedian and influencer, Elsa Majimbo sparks controversy after weighing on black tax, which is a common practice in Africa.

The international star aired her view in a video which was shared on TikTok and has gone viral.

Elsa said people who depend on other family members to survive are lazy.

The star shared an experience of how her dad sends money to people in his extended family, which irks her.

She said what pissed her off the most is that a woman in her family used to request money from her dad and the woman has gone from asking her dad to asking her (the comedian) for money.

Elsa Majimbo said such people should starve if they can’t work to feed themselves and survive.

“Sending money back home to your extended family is such a common African practice that I absolutely hate,” she said.

Social media users are divided in the comment as some people supported Elsa’s take, while others were against it.

“She clearly said she doesn’t know any of her extended families. So it’s definitely gonna be weird if anyone on them come to her for money now,” a tweep wrote.

“She should park well. Of what benefit is your so-called wealth if your family members can’t tap from it,” another wrote.

“She’s talking from a place of privilege. Those extended family are also not so close to her personally. If she lived in Nigeria, she would understand that it’s not always a matter of laziness. On the plus side, she won’t have black tax issues.,” a user wrote.
