Minister Leon Schreiber updates the public on ID fraud issue
Minister of Home Affairs, South Africa, Leon Schreiber says that the department is working hard to halt ID fraud.
The issue of identity fraud and illegal immigrant gained more fame after former Miss SA finalist Chidinma Adetshina was investigated.
The investigation revealed that the model’s mother was involved in identity theft years ago, as a result, Chidinma left the pageant.
Taking to Twitter, Minister Leon addressed concerned citizens about the issue of identity fraud.
“Home Affairs is taking decisive action against ID fraud by moving to cancel IDs that are duplicated, held by illegal immigrants, or where the holder is deceased. At the same time, we have put in place a fair process to unblock IDs that have been incorrectly blocked for years,” he said.
