Lynn Forbes talks about the pain of losing a child after over a year of losing her son, Kiernan Forbes, famously known as AKA.
The South African rapper’s life was cut short by assassination, as they shot him directly to the head as seen in a CCTV which went viral on social media.
AKA died on the 10 February, in front of Wish restaurant in Durban.
Lynn shared an old photo of herself with her two sons and captioned it with a lenghty note that reflects motherhood.
“When you have children your identity changes from being a woman to being a mother. From that moment onwards, you make a choice everyday, whether to prioritise someone else’s happiness and wellbeing above your own. As a mother, you choose to do your best with what you have and with what you know, at any given moment.”
“You choose to do the right thing, even when you’re not always entirely sure what the right thing to do is … and you have to forgive yourself over and over again, for doing everything so wrong and being so flawed. In the end you find peace, knowing that, as a mother, you have and will always do what you believe is your best.”
“Losing a child in any way, is a mother’s biggest pain. It changes one’s identity because what made you a mom, is no longer complete, it’s broken. You experience an identity death. You no longer know who you are. The only thing that defines me as a mother, is my overwhelming and unconditional love for both my children, the love I will forever hold in my heart,” she wrote.
Followers and fans flooded Lynn Forbes’ post with comforting words and emojis.
