Bolt company was triggered after falling victim to the heated online war between Nigeria and South Africa.
Social media was a mess on Thursday as both countries utilised the company to satisfy their grudges by placing fake orders.
The online warriors wasted the time of these drivers; Nigerians celebrated their victory as they claimed that they retaliated after South Africans taunted by starting the Bolt challenge.
“We understand the impact this situation has had on our driver-partners in Nigeria and South Africa,” Bolt told BBC.
The online taxi firm released a statement which reads:
“Bolt is aware of the fake ride request incident between some people in Nigeria and South Africa. Following a thorough investigation and the implementation of enhanced security measures, we have addressed this issue swiftly by restricting inter-country ride requests,” the company said.
“Those responsible for this malicious activity have been identified and held accountable by blocking them from the Bolt app,” the statement said.
