South African radio and TV personality Thabiso Sikwane dies at 50

Broadcasting veteran, Thabiso Sikwane passes away after a short sickness.

The family of the TV personality confirmed her death on Friday.


“[She] left an inedible mark on colleagues and audiences alike. During her illustrious career on radio and TV, she produced, hosted, and covered significant events, shaped narratives, and inspired many,” the family said in a statement.

Reports state that Thabiso, 50, died at the age of 50. She was married to DJ Fresh, whose real name was Thato Sikwane.

The couple separated 20 years after marriage, but they remained friends despite their breakup.

On Friday, DJ Fresh shared a video of the latest episode of his podcast where he interviewed Thabiso.

“That’s the guest on WAW What A Week today. We have known each other since she read news on my show in 1998, & this is the first time I interview her. I’M Excited & nervous!! Media hun, businesswoman, author and #WAWwhatAweek podcast producer,” he wrote.
