What’s the reason behind it?

As per experts, the change has become of the awareness of the risks related to drinking and its other side effects of their fitness, and poor decision making in the long run.

It is said that the younger generation is well-versed about the lifestyle habits that are good and bad for them, and how alcohol consumption is actually toxic for human health.

It was mentioned by WHO in a statement in The Lancet Public Health: when it comes to alcohol consumption, there is no safe amount that does not affect health. The same report mentioned that to identify a “safe” level of alcohol consumption, valid scientific evidence would need to demonstrate that at and below a certain level, there is no risk of illness or injury associated with alcohol consumption.

Gen Z and their priorities

It has been reported that Gen Z prioritizes both mental and physical wellness more than past generations.

A survey conducted by Becker’s Hospital Review revealed that half of Gen Zers work out, compared to just 45 percent of other generations. Also, they take personalized supplements and attend regular therapy sessions at higher rates than millennials.

According to a 2021 survey findings from Technomic, a food industry research and analytic company mentioned by The Hill, only 58 percent of Gen Z consider going out to bars and restaurants, compared to 65 percent of millennials.
