DJ Maphorisa reacts to Samthing Soweto’s claim about the master ownership of his music.
In the early hours of Tuesday, Samthing penned down series of tweets about how Phori exploited him, especially with the song Isphithiphithi, as he was not given the masters.
“@DjMaphorisa shouldn’t lie the way he does, it’s gonna get him into trouble one day. I paid Phori for my Masters. I paid an amount that he asked for at the time. Furthermore, I lied about Phori’s contributions on to my project, He didn’t produce anything.”
“They use my works without permissions, without contracts or without consent. They just release my works without even informing me of release dates, when I ask what’s happening, they run to social media to discredit me before I can tell the truth,” he added.
DJ Maphorisa dropped a video in response to all the Soweto spilled on Twitter.
Phori made it clear that Samthing can’t own all the masters. He further revealed that the vocalist’s invoice was requested years ago, so as to pay him.
The DJ made it known that the singer’s money can also be returned.
“We also wanna own amantombazane master send us the invoice so we pay you simple @samthingsoweto,” he captioned post.
Maphorisa said he is tired of going back and forth over the issue.
