Sol Phenduka expresses frustration over low Amapiano streaming numbers.
The radio presenter took to social media to voice his concerns about the disappointing stream counts Amapiano Music has seen in recent months.
According to him, despite artists consistently releasing quality albums in the genre, the numbers aren’t reflecting the success.
He questioned the current dynamics of the music industry, writing: ‘What’s the trick behind successful album drops these days? Especially Amapiano. Clearly, it’s not just about good music. So many people are dropping great albums, but the streaming numbers are not numbering. What are they doing wrong?’
His tweet sparked a flurry of responses from Twitter users, offering various explanations and insights.”

DJ Shimza replied, “Unfortunately, South Africans choose who they support, sometimes not on merit but hype.”
“The Piano Market is way too saturated, we get about 10+ songs every week, then there’s albums, it’s too much, when do we get time to enjoy the music? We realistically can’t listen to new music every day Most people stick to a group of artists,” Twitter user El Poro wrote.
Tell us in the comment, what can be done to increase Amapiano’s number of streams?
