Loyalty forms only one aspect of pet ownership and each creature has its unique characteristics that can bring joy and fulfillment to the right owner.

Similarly, the behavior and nature of every animal can also be developed further depending on how they are dealt with and the environment around them.

Here are some animals that are usually not so loyal as pets:

1. Hamsters

Hamsters are cute pets but they are often considered less loyal due to their independent nature. They love exploring their cages and playing with toys far more than finding comfort with people. Although they can grow to get comfortable with their owners and even like being carried, they are not commonly known to become strongly attached to their owners. Their nocturnal habits also mean that they are more active at night when their owners are asleep, limiting interaction time. But hamsters are so full of fun and they bring a lot of enjoyment with their playfulness. They are great pets for those that like pets with an independent personality.

2. Fish

While fishes are beautiful and truly a wonderful sight, but they do not demonstrate loyalty as pets. They live in their aquatic habitat totally unaware of their human caretakers except for the notion of food time. Fish do not pursue specific people. Still, the calmness they provoke and the educational experience of maintaining an aquarium can be extremely rewarding. Aquarium put into a house create a sense of calm and also holds endless fascination for any person who enjoys seeing the underwater world.

3. Guinea pigs

Guinea pigs are friendly and social pets but classically seen as less loyal compared to other pets. They get startled easily and are timid. They require time to feel confident about their humans. Though they love staying with people and bonding, it is not so evident that they are loyal like a dog or cat. They require gentle treatment and a peaceful environment to feel comfortable. Despite that, guinea pigs are nice pets and so are their cute squeaks-and very gentle nature which make them lovely companions for those willing to earn their trust.

4. Cats

Although most cat owners will claim that their feline friends give them affection and companionship, cats are not considered as loyal as dogs. Cats are often aloof animals, usually independent, and enjoy keeping to themselves rather than playing around. They may come and go as they please and often choose solitude over interaction. However, their loyalty can be seen in different ways, such as bringing “gifts” or choosing to spend time with their favourite humans on their own terms.

5. Rabbits

Rabbits can be the most adorable pets, but they are also skittish and independent. They tend to get scared easily and dislike their rough handling. So, bonding might not be so easy with them. Though they can express affection in their peculiar way, they do not promise to stand by your side like a dog does. Therefore owners need to patiently work through things with their rabbits if they are going to trust them.
