Tyla pretends to drink a shot in Lagos, Nigeria
South African music star Tyla is being celebrated on social media for pretending to drink a shot while on holiday in Nigeria.
The Water hitmaker is clearly enjoying her time in Lagos, attending lively events alongside Nigerian music stars like Tems and Ayra Starr.
However, South Africans are particularly amused by Tyla’s method of handling drinking the shot, especially as her counterparts, Ayra and Tems, drank theirs with ease.
Mzansi has applauded her gesture, with some interpreting it as caution.
A controversial music executive Nota Baloyi commented, “She even pretended to feel it and made a face! I think she just knows her Dad is watching her wherever he is. Can’t be drinking on camera. That ‘Jar Jar Binks-looking’ Rema must stop smoking around her. Does he want to sabotage her voice? That upset me!”
Another Twitter user added, “There’s a reason why Tyla is the most successful among them. She has South African discipline—we don’t drink at work. And as a good patriot, she knows better than to trust Nigerians.”
