How sharing makeup and skincare products can harm your skin

We have always heard the phrase ‘sharing is caring.’ However, in terms of sharing makeup and skincare products, it should be a big ‘NO.’
Women specifically tend to share their makeup brushes, lipsticks, mascara, and many more such items in the dressing room or while getting dressed.
It may sound rude to say no to sharing makeup, but it can lead to serious facial conditions that might look harmless at the moment.
Just like one should never share or try makeup testers kept in the stores, you should never share some makeup products and skincare that could lead to a disaster.
Let’s learn some scary things that could happen when you share makeup or skincare products with your girlfriends, or worse with any stranger during your lady room session.

Your makeup brushes are a brewing space of accumulated bacteria that might give you a flawless touch but should be cleaned from time to time.

The constant use can lead to product buildup and worse can direct bacteria buildup and pick up oils and other impurities from the skin.
Now, pass it along to your friend who can get those, or you can get her skin issues after use.

1. Lipstick and balms

If you’re using lipstick or stick lip balm then stop sharing it as white passes along you’re leaving the germs from one person to the other. Even simply licking the lips leaves a trace of saliva which is touched by the tip of your lipstick and can give you cold sores or other hygiene skin issues.

2. Your hairbrushes

We all tend to ask for combs and hairbrushes and have been lending them many times at home and outside. However, we have no idea that a hairbrush spreads excess oils and dandruff issues from head to head from a hairbrush or comb that could lead to issues of dandruff and flakiness. In worst cases, you can also contract hair lice that would damage your scalp and cause itchiness and irritation.

3. Mascaras

Along with the other eye makeup products, mascaras should not be shared ever. Mascaras are usually eye makeup brushes and if contracted with an eye infection from one it can be shifted in just one stroke causing pink eye. Our eyes are a very sensitive part of our face and thus sharing eyeshadows, eyeliner, or kohl can also lead to an eye infection or even redness.

4. Jar products

Talking about skincare, if you’re sharing anything that is coming out of a jar such as moisturiser, face formulas, facial gels, or lip balms as well, stop it immediately or start using a small makeup spoon. When scooped out from your fingers, it mixes up the bacteria into the formula. Also, look out for eye creams and face scrubs as well, and carry tiny spatulas.
