Platinum celebrates his music career success in SA
American rapper Gunna has made a strong mark on South Africa’s music scene, earning multiple certifications from the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).
His second studio album, WUNNA, has officially gone platinum, while several of his singles have reached gold and multi-platinum status.
Among the standout achievements, ‘fmean’ achieved double platinum certification, while ‘pushin P’ secured a platinum plaque. Other popular tracks, including ‘Dollaz on My Head’ featuring Young Thug, ‘Drip or Drown,’ ‘Met Gala,’ and ‘One of Wun,’ were all recognized with gold certifications.
These milestones were celebrated in a special presentation by Ayanda Mnguni, senior marketing manager at Warner Music Africa, underscoring Gunna’s growing fanbase in South Africa. Mnguni highlighted how deeply Gunna’s music resonates with local audiences and the strong presence he has built within the country’s hip-hop landscape.
Beyond his chart successes, Gunna has strengthened his connection with South Africa through his collaboration with global Afropop star Tyla on the hit single ‘Jump.’ The music video, filmed in Johannesburg, captures the city’s energy and cultural vibrancy.
The rapper fully embraced the local scene, exploring nightlife hotspots and engaging with fans. His recent performance at Heineken House further amplified his presence, as he delivered a high-energy set featuring some of his biggest hits, including ‘fmean’ and ‘pushin P.’
Reflecting on his experience, Gunna expressed enthusiasm for Johannesburg’s lively atmosphere, calling the city a “vibe” and emphasizing his excitement about performing at Heineken House.
