Khaya Mthethwa wins insurance battle after long fight
Gospel artist and radio presenter Khaya Mthethwa has won a civil claim against MiWay Insurance, following a lengthy legal battle over an unpaid claim from a 2016 car accident.
Mthethwa took MiWay to the Gauteng High Court after the insurer refused to pay out. The court ruled in his favor, ordering MiWay to cover the damages and legal costs. However, Mthethwa later revealed that the insurer had still not settled the claim.
Frustrated by the delay, he took to Instagram on Tuesday, writing: “@miwayinsurance I’d like to know why our emails since Nov 2024 have been ignored… We won the case in Feb last year!! Now it’s a mission to get you guys to settle this claim, and I’m sick and tired of chasing.”
His post sparked a flood of complaints from other MiWay customers. By February 5, 2025, MiWay settled the claim.
Mthethwa later updated fans: “MiWay has settled the claim… This is the power of social media.”
MiWay spokesperson Thanyani Muthaki confirmed the matter had been resolved.
