Gogo Maweni appeared in Protea magistrate’s court over assault case
Reality TV star and traditional healer Gogo Maweni, whose real name is Makhotso Lee-Anne Mofokeng, is set to appear in court for trial on March 16.
She faces a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm related to an alleged incident in 2019.
During her recent appearance at the Protea Magistrate’s Court in Soweto, her bail was extended.
The case has attracted significant public interest, given her past legal troubles. Currently expecting twins, Maweni has had previous run-ins with the law, including a conviction for theft and fraud that resulted in three months of community service.
Additionally, she pleaded guilty to driving under the influence 15 years ago.
With her trial date approaching, many are keen to see how events unfold for the well-known sangoma, whose larger-than-life personality has kept her in the public eye.
