Anele Mdoda calls out Uber following threats from one of their drivers
Anele Mdoda has opened up about a distressing experience with an Uber driver in Cape Town.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the media personality shared videos of the encounter, revealing that the driver allegedly threatened her with rape after she opted for the “don’t talk to me” preference.
Anele recounted how she felt unsafe throughout the ride and had to record the journey as a precaution.
“My @uber driver tonight was upset that I had picked the don’t talk to me option. He then said, ‘In my country, we would rape you to teach you a lesson,’ and I had to fake being on Instagram Live to get home safe,” she wrote.
She further described how the driver became aggressive upon arrival at her hotel, shouting at her while bystanders witnessed the tense situation.
Anele has since called on Uber to take action following the terrifying ordeal.
“So after he threatened me with rape to keep in line, I started recording so that if anything happens to me, it’s on record. I faked being on Instagram Live. This was in Cape Town,” she added.
