DJ Sbu announces resignation from Radio 2000, teases new breakfast show

DJ Sbu, real name Sibusiso Leope, has officially announced his resignation as a morning show host on Radio 2000.

Nearly a year after returning to radio, the media personality and entrepreneur took to social media on Monday to share a statement regarding his departure.

“To the esteemed listeners of Radio 2000 and the broader South African community, this serves to inform you that after much reflection and consideration, I have made the decision to resign as a morning radio host at Radio 2000, part of the South African Broadcasting Corporation,” he wrote.

DJ Sbu clarified that his contract was originally set to end on March 30, 2025, but he opted to step away earlier than expected.

“This choice has not been an easy one, as my time at Radio 2000 has been filled with invaluable experiences, cherished memories, and the joy of connecting with our wonderful audience. I am deeply grateful for the support I have received from my colleagues, management, and, most importantly, our loyal listeners,” he expressed.

The radio host also revealed that he is preparing for a brand-new breakfast show on a different platform, set to launch on April 1, 2025.

“This new opportunity presents a fresh chapter in my career, and I am eager to embrace the possibilities that lie ahead,” he shared.

Closing his statement, DJ Sbu expressed gratitude to his supporters and extended well wishes to his former station.

“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey. Your encouragement and engagement have meant the world to me, and I look forward to staying connected with you in my future endeavors. I wish Radio 2000 continued success in the years to come.”
