Mthaux bids farewell to YFM breakfast show, steps away from on-air role

Mthaux, real name Mthokozisi Mncwango, has officially announced his exit from YFM’s breakfast show.

The media personality, who co-hosted alongside Nia Brown and Okay Wasabi, revealed that he is stepping back from being an on-air talent.


“I’d like to take a moment to announce my departure from the breakfast show on Y. After much consideration, I’ve decided to step back from being [an] on-air talent,” he shared in a heartfelt statement on social media.

Expressing gratitude for his decade-long journey, Mthaux acknowledged the listeners who made the experience worthwhile.

“Yires, thank you for a life-changing 10 years. I will miss you dearly! To my managers, fellow DJs, colleagues over the years, friends, family, and all who have supported my journey thus far—thank you!”

The radio host also reflected on the impact of his career, highlighting his pride in being part of a platform that amplified queer voices.

“I’m grateful to have produced for the best in the game and proud to have been one of the many conduits of queer voices on the radio. Let’s Kiki one last time this week, shall we?”
