Vusi Nova celebrates his mother’s posthumous 60th birthday

Vusumzi “Vusi Nova” Nongxa continues to honor his late mother, whose influence shaped his journey in music.

This March, the Thandiwe hitmaker is reflecting on what would have been a milestone—his mother’s 60th birthday.

He shared his deep longing for her presence, especially as he prepares for a major solo show at Emperor’s Palace on May 1.

“My mom passed away in 2005, and she would have been turning 60 today,” he said. “This upcoming show is a big deal for me, but I can’t shake the feeling that something is missing.”

Vusi expressed that his mother was his biggest supporter, but she never got to witness his rise to fame or see him perform live on grand stages.

“If she was still alive, I would have made sure she had a front-row seat. I’ve seen other artists have their moms by their side, and I would give anything to have that,” he admitted.

The singer also revealed that his mother’s passing remains an open wound.

“The one thing I will never heal from is my mother’s passing and the way she died. I will never be at peace with that.”
